Shops in Germany are open on weekdays and Saturdays. By law they are closed on Sundays and public holidays. Exceptions are the stores that are located at bus and train stations and at the airport.
Special offer leaflets / week leaflets are usually valid from Monday to Saturday, new leaflets are available for you on Sunday.
CREDIT CARDS:
In most shops it is not possible to pay with Visa and MasterCard. In Germany, most banks use German card issuers and shops accept only these cards. Some stores accept MasterCard cards (Maestro). Therefore it is better to prepare for it and go shopping with cash.
You can withdraw money at ATMs with any card, but it is important to be aware of the fees of your bank. Some Czech banks offer free withdrawal abroad, but under certain conditions, mostly you usually pay a fee + percentage of the amount withdrawn.
CUSTOMER CARDS:
Shops in Germany do not accept customer cards from Czech chainss of the same brand. Also DM drugstore groupies cannot collect points when shopping in Germany with Czech DM drugstore card.
USING HIGHWAYS, VIGNETTE:
Highways in Germany are free of charge for cars to 12 tons.
SOMETHING INTERESTING:
By law, all plastic bottles are returnable with deposit of 25 cents. Not every store chain takes back all the bottles, it depends on the brand of the product. The deposit in German language is called “Pfand”. So if you find this on your receipt, it's the deposit for a plastic bottle.
In Germany, there are cheap shops network (eg. stores 39 or Rodinka in our country etc.). The offer of these shops is more miscellaneout and better than in the Czech Republic. The shops:
EUROSHOP - everything for 1€. Something from stationery, cosmetics, clothing, kitchen accessories, books, tools, everything possible:-)
Teddy - a wide range at minimum cost.
